Sri Chinmoy Meadows Relays 2025

On a gorgeous sunny evening, 97 teams took part in the Sri Chinmoy 3×1 mile relays at The Meadows in Edinburgh on Wednesday, 23rd July. There were victories for Corstorphine AC men, and Edinburgh AC’s women.

Mountain runner and triathlete, Ewan Brown, brought Corstorphine home well clear at the end of leg 1 in 4:28

Glasgow 2014, Commonwealth Games runner, Ross Houston (4:36), came home in second place. Edinburgh AC teams and Fife AC were in close contention.

Leg 2 saw Corstrorphine maintain their lead through James Wiggins, while behind, James Lessells brought Fife into 2nd, and Gary Constable took EAC into 3rd 

Stu Livingston, with a 4:38 lap, brought Corstorphine home to victory, in a cumulative time of 13:46, five seconds clear of Ben Kininmonth of Fife, who in turn held off EAC’s James Payne.

Loch Ness Marathon winner, Moray Pryde, in equalling Brown’s opening lap of 4:28, brought Lothian Running Club’s team home in fourth.

Another Commonwealth Games runner, Sarah Inglis of Lothian, was the fastest female on leg 1 in 5:20 running in a mixed team.

Pitreavie’s Mirabelle Meade and EAC’s Elaine Eadie were next fastest, both recording 5:30.

Courtney Moffat gave Lothian a 1-second lead over EAC’s  Charlotte Newman after leg 2

Lucy Naga, with a 5:32 last leg, brought EAC home in the lead with a cumulative time of 17:07, well clear of Lothian RC, 17:52 

Kirstren Maxwell, with a 5:33 last lap, brought Corstorphine’s women into 3rd just 3 seconds behind Lothian.

Keen competition in the masters categories saw victories for Gala Harriers men and Lothian RC women in the M50 category. Lothian took the MEN 60 medals with Portobello Running Club edging Lothian for the M70 crown.

A composite team of Evan Tyler, Blake Burchall and Alexander Wotherspoon were the first junior (u/17) team.

Pitreavie sisters, Maisey and Mirabelle Meade, were the first Junior team, with Mirabelle running both legs 1 and 3.

Special mention to the Houston family, the First Mixed team, as the Houston Astros. The  family team of Ross  on leg 1, son Fraser on leg 2 and  wife Claire on leg 3, recorded a cumulative time of 16:25 in 18th place,

Concurrently and creatively, as the Houston Rockets, Claire ran leg 1, daughter Isla leg 2, with Ross cruising round in 5.01, for his second mile.

A wonderful way to involve the family!

Also spotted was David Ovens, Chair of Scottish Athletics, leading by example.

He tweeted, “Enjoyed doing the 3x 1 mile event at the Meadows tonight with some old friends/ training partners from years ago. First race in around seven or eight years and I really felt it! Loved it though”

Thanks to everyone for supporting the event. As always, it was great to see such a spread of ages from some very young stars of the future through to our oldest finisher, 80-year-old Phillip Jurczyk.

A big thank you, as always, to all our volunteers from the Sri Chinmoy team, and others from local clubs. This event couldnt happen without them all.
