GB 100km Rankings 2022
King and Murphy top the GB 2022 100km rankings
Two major races dominate the 100km rankings for 2022, the British championships in Perth in April and the World Championships in Berlin in August.

The Sri Chinmoy 100km at Perth, as well as hosting the British Championships, incorporated the Anglo Celtic Plate Home Countries International. It turned out to be the strongest in-depth domestic 100k for many years with no fewer than 7 men going sub 7 hours, with 2 more very close and 3 women going sub 8 hours, again with 2 very close.
Matt Dickinson, pictured above, came out on top in Perth with his 6:39:34.This was the fastest time by a British male athlete since SteveWay’s 6:19:20 in 2014, however, it was Belfast’s Gareth King, 4th in Perth with 6:47:33, who tops the rankings after surpassing that with a superb 6:32:05 at the subsequent World Championships in Berlin in August.
King also had the satisfaction of twice breaking the Northern Ireland and All Ireland 100km record in 2022 as well. You can read about Gareth’s World Championship experience HERE
With Dickinson repeating his sub-7-hour performance in Berlin, it resulted in no less than a total of 9 men’s sub-7-hour times for the year. Jason Kelly, Ollie Garrod, Joe Turner, Paul Martelletti, and Chris Richardson were the others. This substantially beats any recent previous year and is a definite sign that there is a Buzz around 100km as an event just now.
Away from Perth in the Spring Lee Grantham opted to run in Italy at the famous Passatore 100km, which he won, but on the hilly Italian course was outside 7 hours in 7:03:29.

Murphy heads the Women’s list
Scotland’s Jo Murphy recorded the top two times of the year. Winning the British title at Perth in April, she recorded 7:41:12. With Sam Amend and Caroline Turner running 7:48:31 and 7:5:35 respectively, it was the first time three British women had run substantively under 8 hours in a domestic race.
Murphy improved that time to 7:38:10 in Berlin in August. Turner also improved on her Perth time in Berlin recording 7:45:42 to finish the year as second-ranked athlete ahead of Amend.
Amy Sarkies just missed 8 hours in Perth with her 8:00:50 but improved that by over 5 minutes to 7:55:14 in Berlin to give 4 runners with sub 8 times for the year. Alison McGill with 8:02:34 at Perth to rank 5th athlete for the year almost joined the sub-8 club too.

Mens All Time rankings
The exceptional way King and Dickinson have adapted to the 100km distance has resulted in them moving to 5th and 8th in the GB all-time rankings. Jason Kelly moves into the top 10 in 9th by virtue of his Perth time, despite having to drop out of the Championships in Berlin with a chest issue,
